The Heritage Guitar Company opened in 1985 setting up shop in the original Gibson factory that had moved from Kalamazoo, MI to Nashville, TN a year earlier. While Heritage currently focuses on hollowbody, semi-hollowbody, and solidbody electric guitars, they have also experminented with acoustic and mandolin instruments. Most Heritage mandolins were produced during the 1990s. Heritage also built a banjo model on a limited availability basis. By 2001, Heritage had stopped offering their entire line of acoustic instruments including mandolins to focus on electric guitars.
