ELECTRIC SS AMPS: COMBO MODELS (1971-1980)

In 1971, Ampeg released their first solid-state combo amp with the GT-10. They followed in 1973 with five more new solid-state amps that shared similar chassis. Models with "B" prefixes were designed for bass use and models with "G" prefixes were designed for guitar use. Ampeg also used the model number to indicate the speaker configuration. For example, the G-412 was a guitar amp with 4-12 in. speakers. Many amps in this series were proudced throughout the 1970s and discontinued in 1980.
