In November of 1994, Wechter built a prototype of an innovative new design that led to the introduction of the Pathmaker. The unique double cutaway body design features a neck with 19-frets clear of the body.
Earlier model may be equipped with either a Fishman Axis system or Axis+ or Axis-M. The Pathmaker "Recessed Tailblock" has a Fishman Matrix transducer mounted on the tailblock of the instrument.
The original Pathmaker Standard has a dual cutaway acoustic body, solid Sitka spruce top, solid mahogany back and sides (Last MSR was $1,899) or rosewood back and sides (Last MSR was $2,000), round soundhole, abalone rosette, wood binding, mahogany neck, 19/22-fret rosewood fingerboard with offset abalone dot inlay, three-per-side tuners, rosewood peghead veneer with mother-of-pearl logo inlay, rosewood bridge with white bridgepins, tortoise pickguard, Fishman Prefix + system, and available in Natural gloss finish.
Wechter also offered the Pathmaker Elite Nylon String, which was similar to the Pathmaker Standard, except has a nylon string configuration, and was available in mahogany back and sides (Last MSR was $2,049) or rosewood back and sides (Last MSR was $2,149). The Pathmaker Starburst is similar to the Pathmaker Standard, except features white ABS body binding, available with mahogany back and sides (Last MSR was $2,099) or rosewood back and sides (Last MSR was $2,199) and available in Tobacco Brown Starburst finish.
