ACOUSTIC: 800 SERIES

The Taylor 800 series are referred to as "the descendants of Bob Taylor's original design." These deluxe models feature Indian rosewood back and sides, scalloped bracing (on six-string models), abalone soundhole rosette, and pearl "Progressive Diamond" fretboard inlay.

In 2017, Taylor added the 800 Deluxe (DLX) line to their flagship 800 Series. The new Deluxes offer an Indian rosewood body with solid Sitka spruce top, Expression System 2 electronics, and a gloss finish. These guitars include premium features, such as a built-in armrest, Adirondack spruce bracing, and Gotoh 510 tuners. During the summer of 2017, a Tobacco Sunburst top was introduced as a standard option on all 800 series guitars.

- dreadnought body, solid Sitka spruce top, round soundhole, tortoiseshell pickguard (1975-2010) or rosewood pickguard (2011-2019), three-stripe bound body, abalone rosette, Indian rosewood back/sides, mahogany neck, 14/20-fret bound rosewood fingerboard with pearl snowflake inlay (1975-93) progressive diamond inlay (1994-2010) or element inlay (2011-2019), rosewood veneer on bound peghead w/ pearl logo inlay, three-per-side gold tuners, rosewood bridge with black abalone dot pins, available in Natural finish, case included, mfg. 1975-2019.

In 1994, pearl progressive diamond fingerboard inlay replaced the snowflake inlay. In 1998, ebony fingerboard replaced rosewood fingerboard; ebony bridge replaced the rosewood bridge. In 2011, ebony headstock overlay replaced the rosewood headstock overlay.

When reintroduced the 812 had switched from a tortoise to rosewood pickguard, rosewood to ebony bridge, pearl snowflake fingerboard inlays to element inlays, rosewood headstock overlay to ebony headstock overlay and gold tuners to nickel tuners.
