F-50 NAVARRE/JF-65M

- jumbo body style, spruce top, curly maple back and sides, round soundhole with four rings, multi-ply body binding, three-piece mahogany/maple neck, 14/20-fret bound rosewood fingerboard with eight pearloid block inlays, black bound headstock overlay with G logo inlay, three-per-side gold-plated Kluson Deluxe tuners, rosewood bridge, tortoiseshell pickguard, available in Natural or Sunburst finish, 17 in. body width, 4.5 in. body depth, 25.5 in. scale, mfg. 1954-1987.
In 1956, a maple neck with a walnut strip, pearl block fingerboard inlays, and the G shield headstock inlay were introduced. In 1957, pearl block fingerboar inlays with V inserts were introduced. In 1962, an ebony fingerboard was introduced. In 1966 a "cloud" bridge with two points was introduced. In 1967 the body was deepend to 5 in. Around 1972, some guitars were constructed with ebony bridges and black pickguards were introduced. In 1987, this model was renamed the JF-65M.

F-50 R Navarre/JF-65R

- similar to the F-50 Navarre, except has rosewood back and sides, mfg. 1965-1987.
Brazilian rosewood was used on the back and sides until circa 1969. In 1966 a "cloud" bridge with two points was introduced. In 1967 the body was deepend to 5 in. In 1969, a rosewood bridge was introduced. Around 1970, some guitars had a flat laminated back with one-piece mahogany necks. Around 1972, some guitars were constructed with ebony bridges and three-piece padouk/maple necks and black pickguards were introduced. Around 1977, some guitars had three-piece mahogany/maple necks. In 1987, this model was renamed the JF-65R.

The earliest models may not have the Chesterfield headstock inlay. In 1976, the body size changed to 15.375 in. body width and 4.875 in. body depth.

In 1968, a Chesterfield headstock inlay was introduced. In 1969, the body dimensions were changed as the body was slightly narrower at 15.875 in. and deeper at 5 in., and some models from this era may have a one-piece neck. In 1976, the body was widened back to the orignal size of 16 in.
