Models in this series are based on Guild's F orchestra style guitars, however not every model follows this design - especially in the 12-string versions. By the late 1980s, Guild abandoned use of the F Series with these type of guitars and reassigned them to the new Traditional Acoustic Series that are all cutaway electrics. After the late 1980s, guitars were split up into JF models for jumbos or GF for orchestra models.
