During WWII, Gibson used whatever materials were available to construct instruments. Consequently, there are LG-2´s found with mahogany tops, maple back/sides/neck, no truss rods and other little differences from other production models found before and after the war. In 1955, redesigned pickguard, 14/20-fret fingerboard replaced original part/design. In 1961, Cherry Sunburst finish replaced original part/design.

In 1955, teardrop pickguard was replaced by the longer Gibson style pickguard with a single point, 14/20-fret fingerboard replaced original part/design. In 1961, adjustable bridge replaced original part/design. In early 1962, reverse rosewood bridge with adjustable saddle replaced previous part/design. In late 1962, plastic screw-on bridge replaced previous part/design. The LG-3 has a "X-braced" top. In 1963, the LG-3 was renamed the B-25N.

This model does not appear in the Gibson shipping total records until 1970. Non-adj. saddle and teardrop pickguard were introduced in 1970.
