In 1967, after MCA purchased the Danelectro Corporation, the Coral trademark was introduced. The Coral line was MCA's marketing strategy for direct wholesale selling to individual dealers, instead of selling to Sears & Roebuck. Once the company went that route, however, they came up against competition from the larger guitar manufacturers at the dealer level. The Coral line of guitars and amplifiers was only produced for about three years.
Instruments and amplifiers previously produced in Neptune City, NJ between 1967 and 1969 by the Danelectro Corporation. Distributed by MCA, after buying the Danelectro company and trademark.
