GUILD D-55 (TV MODEL)/D-65 (NO. 350-0300/380-0500) Description
- dreadnought style, solid spruce top, bookmatched rosewood back, solid rosewood sides, round soundhole, three-stripe body binding, abalone rosette, three-piece mahogany neck, 14/20-fret bound ebony fingerboard with pearl block/abalone wedge inlays, bound headstock with pearl shield/logo inlay, three-per-side gold tuners, ebony bridge with white abalone dot pins, maple endpin wedge, tortoiseshell pickguard, available in Antique Burst, Ice Tea Burst (disc.), or Natural lacquer finish, case included, 15.75 in. body width, 25.5 in. scale, mfg. 1968-1987, 1990-present.
This model was a special order only between 1968 and 1973 and was originally called the TV Model D-55. In 1972, an ebony bridge was introduced. In 1973, a three-piece padouk/maple neck was introduced. In 1987, this model was renamed the D-65, but it was disc. later that year. In 1990, this model was reintroduced as the D-55, with a few minor changes: a larger headstock and 25.625 in. scale. This model is also available in left-handed configuration (No. 385-0520).
