FENDER JAZZMASTER (U.S. MFG.) Description
- offset double cutaway asymmetrical alder body, gold metal (or tortoiseshell) pickguard, bolt-on maple neck, 21-fret rosewood fingerboard with pearl dot inlay, six-on-one-side tuners, floating bridge/vibrato, bridge cover plate, tortoiseshell celluloid pickguard, two single coil exposed pickups, two knobs (v, tone) and a three-position pickup switch on the treble side of pickguard, two roller knobs (v, tone) and a preset selector slide switch on bass side of pickguard, chrome hardware, available in Sunburst or Custom Colors finishes, mfg. 1958-1980.
The earliest models (1958-late 1959) have an anodized aluminum pickguard. In late 1965, a bound fingerboard was introduced. In mid-1966, block fingerboard inlays replaced dot inlays. In 1977, black pickup covers replaced white ones.
