For Ibanez's full history, see the Blue Book of Acoustic Guitars or Blue Book of Electric Guitars.
In 1965, Ibanez introduced their first mandolin, but it was only produced for a few months. After the Ibanez line became stable in the U.S., they introduced a full line of mandolins and other bluegrass instruments. These instruments were mainly copies of Gibson's popular A-style and F-style mandolins that came in a variety of wood configurations and appointments. In 1979, the entire line was revamped and produced through approximately 1982/83. Ibanez's line went without a mandolin until 2004, when a new line of mandolins was introduced.
