Martin brieftly ventured into the Mandola and Mandocello industry. A mandola is tuned down a fifth below a regular mandolin. These styles follow their mandolin counterparts, respectively.
The Mandocello is the baritone part of the mandolin family. It is tuned a full octave below the mandola and an octave and a fifth below the mandolin. There have been 11 mandocellos built by Martin. 4 were bowlback models, 5 with the C-1 guitar archtop body, and 2 with the C-2 guitar archtop body. Since these models are so scarse and not traded much, it is virtually impossible to put a value on them.
