Mandocellos (K Series)

Mandocellos are tuned one octave below the Mandola, so a mandocello is tuned an octave and a fifth below a mandolin. The body is 14 in. wide. Manocellos also correspond to other Gibson mandolins and mandolas.

- symmetrical A-style body shape, various wood types, oval soundhole with colored rosette, 20-fret ebony fingerboard with dot inlay, paddle shape peghead, four-per-side tuners, available in Golden Orange or Brown finish, mfg. 1902 only.
The Model K is the mandocello version of the Model A mandolin.

Model K-1

The Model K-1 is the mandocello version of the Model A-1 and A-2 mandolins. Models produced between 1930 and 1943 are very rare.

The Model K-2 is the mandocello version of the Model A-4 mandolin. Ivory finish became available as a special order starting in 1918.

Model K-4

- three-point F-style body shape, oval bound soundhole with two wood rings, top body binding, top border with white and green rope style, pickguard with stylized inlay, ebony fingerboard with treble side extended and dot inlays, scroll-style peghead with star and crescent inlay, available in Black finish, mfg. 1912-1940.
The Model K-4 is the mandocello version of the Model F-4 mandolin. This model was last produced in the late 1920s, but still appeared in the catalog until 1940.

Model K-5

- similar to the L-5 guitar body, birch back and sides, raised pickguard, 24-fret fingerboard with extended treble side and dot inlays, guitar style peghead, four-per-side tuners, nickel hardware, 16 in. wide body, available in Sunburst finish, mfg. 1924-1936.
In 1925, maple back and sides were introduced. This model was produced until the late 1920s, but still appeared in the catalog until 1940.
