Mandolas and mandocellos were offered as couterparts to the mandolin family. They were introduced in 1932 and lasted until 1949. The mandolas corresponded to their mandolin counterpart such as the Windsor mandolin was the Windsor mandola. The Mandocellos did not have names and were based off of guitars with the A-style shape. They were simply numbered 1, 2, and 3.
Not very many of these were produced and very few of them are seen in circulation today. They were priced around the same as mandolins back in the 1930s. Today, since they are so rare, they do command more of a premium, but since they are not as collectible as their mandolin counterparts, the price evens out to about the same as the mandolins. The mandocellos will bring a little more money when found.
