BASSMAN (NARROW PANEL)

- 50W, 4-10 in. Jensen P-10R speakers, tube chassis, preamp: 12AY7, 2 X 12AX7, power: 2 X 6L6G, rectifiers: 2 X 5U4G, top chrome control panel, four pointer knobs (v, b, t, p), diagonal tweed covering, brown tweed-era grille, mfg. 1954-1961.
Especially clean models may command a premium. Model 5E6 was used until 1955 when the 5F6 was introduced, which had four inputs, a middle control knob, and a single rectifier. In 1958 the 5F6-A was introduced and the GZ34 rectifier was replaced and an added "swamper resistor" was added.

BASSMAN (BROWNFACE)

- 50W, 1-12 in. Jensen speaker in a seperate cabinet, tube chassis: preamp: 4 X 7025, power: 2 X 5881, GZ34 rectifier, two channels, brownface control panel, seven brown knobs (Ch. 1: v, t, b; Ch 2: v, t, b, Both: p), cream tolex covering, maroon grille, mfg. 1961-64.
The 1-12 in. cabinet was model 6G6. In 1962, the 2-12 in. cabinet is introduced (Model 6G6-A). Around 1962, a solid-state rectifier was introduced. Tubes in later models may be different, and include preamp: 3 X 7025, 12AT7, and power: 2 X 6L6GC. Silicon rectifiers were also used. In 1964, the presence switchwas repalced by abright switch (Model AA864).

In 1967, the speaker cabinet was replaced by a larger, vertical design. Some early models may still have the presence control instead of the bright switch.

In 1968, the entire design was changed to the model AA568 (this was probably introduced when models switched to Silverface control panels). In 1970, a 2-15 speaker cab was introduced. The Silverface was renamed the Bassman 50 in 1972.
