After CBS sold to Schultz and crew in 1985, Fender Musical Instrument Corporation (FMIC), took over without an amp manufacturing facility. Fender then used up their old-stock and started to import some solid-state amps including the Squier 15 and Sidekicks. By 1987, FMIC started to release a few new models, which were American bass BXR amps. In 1988 FMIC released an entire new line of American solid-state amps, which unofficially became Fender's third line of solid-state products. This new line of amps used names from vintage tube models, like the Deluxe-85, Princeton Chorus, and Pro-185, but were nothing like the amps of the same name. In 1989, gray covered amps were introduced with names like the M-80, and Power Chorus. Other amps made their debut in 1990 in gray with the H.O.T., J.A.M.,and the R.A.D.,which were geared toward younger students. By 1992, there were over 25 models in the solid-state line. By this time certain models were phased out, but the whole line was going strong. There are now all kinds of models and variations in this line. Finally after over 20 years of trial and error, Fender has stabilized the solid-state market.
