The Michael-Hull Series refers to the amps that Stanley Michael and Everett Hull built when they opened their shop. There were two models, the Michael-Hull Bassamp and the Model 770 Bassamp and these were designed to be used with Hull's "Ampeg" pickup inside of a stand up bass. Only two amps from the Michael-Hull Series are known to have survived. The early model Bassman had a plywood cabinet with mahogany veneer making it very classy in appearance, and the chassis was mounted on one side of the cabinet with the controls mounted to a slanted control panel on the back of the amp. It featured 1-12 in. GE Alnico V speaker that was covered by a bass clef sign, two channels, 18W output, and tubes consisting of 2 X 6SC7 preamps, 2 X 6L6 outputs, and a 5U4 rectifier.
The Model 770 Bassman was very similar to the Michael-Hull Bassamp, except for the the covering many Ampeg enthusiasts refer to as "mother-of-toilet-seat" that was much shinier than mahogany. The preamp tubes were also changed from 2 X 6SC7s to 3 X 6SN7s. This version had an even more elaborate control panel and a new vent to let heat escape out the back.
