ELECTRIC: DOUBLE AXE SERIES

The Ibanez Double Axe model was available from (circa) 1974-76. The Double Axe was IbanezĀ“ take on the Gibson EDS-1275; Gibson first produced the EDS-1275 between 1963 and 1968, then discontinued the model. Ibanez began issuing their Double Axe in 1974, probably in limited production amounts. Then, in 1977, Gibson again began producing the EDS-1275 (Model DSED currently) and has done so since then. Coincidence? Or to coincide with the Led Zeppelin tours and the frequent use by guitarist Jimmy Page?
The Double Axe (Model 2402) was available in a 6-string/12-string doubleneck configuration, a 4-string bass/6-string guitar doubleneck configuration, and an odd dual 6-string doubleneck configuration. All models were available in Cherry or Walnut finishes, with the same list price of $425. All three were also available in a custom Ivory finish for $450.
