For a complete history of the Axstar Series see: Electric: Axstar (AX) Series. The AXB50 came from the second series, but does not have the shark-shaped body and has no headstock. The AXB60 came from the third series and resembles the AX70 guitar models. An AXB65 five-string was also available. The fourth series of the Axstar was released in 1986 with the AXB1000 (no guitar models), and it featured genuine Steinberger hardware. However, Ibanez did not have an active bass pickup at the specific manufacturing location, so they used an active guitar pickup.
