- single round cutaway multi-bound hollow body, 17 in. wide by 21 in. long by 2.25 in. deep, 23.5 in. scale, solid spruce top, raised bound tortoiseshell pickguard, bound f-holes, maple back/sides/neck, 14/22-fret multi-bound ebony pointed fingerboard with pearl block inlay, tune-o-matic bridge/rosewood base, trapeze tailpiece, multi-bound blackface peghead with pearl flowerpot/logo inlay, 3-per-side tuners, gold hardware, 2 single coil Alnico (disc. late 1957) or humbucker (introduced 1958) pickups, 2 volume/2 tone controls, 3-position switch, available in Natural or Sunburst (most common) finish, mfg. 1955-1985.
The Byrdland model was designed in conjunction with Billy Byrd and Hank Garland. In 1958, 2 covered P.A.F. humbucker pickups replaced Alnico P-90 single coil pickups. Between 1960-1968, Stereo-Varitone electronics were optionally offered. In 1960, single sharp cutaway replaced rounded cutaway design. In 1962, Patent Number humbucker pickups replaced P.A.F. humbuckers. In mid to late 1969, single round cutaway replaced single sharp cutaway design. During 1976 only, a Byrdland 12-string was offered, and less than 20 were mfg.
