YORKVILLE
Pete Traynor built the first Traynor bass amplifier while he was a repairman in the back of the shop Long & McQuade in 1963. Soon after, Jack Long started the Yorkville Sound company and began selling Traynor's bass amplifier along with a few other products. The company expanded quickly and by 1963 Yorkville was building PA colums, and by 1965 they became incorporated as a company. In the mid-1960s, Yorkville products became available in the U.S., and by the early 1970s, they became available in Europe. Between the 1970s and the late 1990s, Yorkville mainly focused on pro audio and other related products, but they did also offer various guitar and bass amplifiers.
By 2007, the Yorkville Group had divided the Yorkville and Traynor brands so they each served just one industry. Currently, all guitar and instrument related amplifiers are branded Traynor, and all other pro audio, mixing equipment, and misc. speaker cabinets are branded Yorkville. Also, the acoustic line of amplifiers that Yorkville was producing under their own name were given new cosmetics and moved to the Traynor line.
