WHITE (FENDER)

White is one of the first and only private-branded names by Fender. The White name was used on a line of a steel guitars with matching amps (these were sold together as a set, much like many steel guitars and amps at the time). The White amp is almost identical in design to the Fender Princeton narrow panel tweed model, but they were covered in a gray vinyl with a dark grille and a small White logo in the upper left corner. Fender named these guitars and amps White in appreciation of Forrest White, who was the plant manager at the time. They were probably sold to non-Fender dealers, so they could sell a Fender product without violating Fender authorized dealer's territory.
