Brothers Kim and John Rishøj founded TC Electronics in 1976 building mainly guitar effects pedals. Frustrated with the lack of quality in effects pedals during the 1970s the Rishøjs set out to make pedals better. They later expanded into rack-mounted equipment and became an industry leader in digital signal processing. In the 2000s, they introduced their first bass amplifiers. They currently offer bass amp heads, combos, and speaker cabinets and they continue to produce a variety of guitar effects and processors.
