RISSON AMPLIFIERS

Bob Rissi originally produced Risson amplifiers between the 1970s and 1980s in California. Rissi gained notoriety when he worked at Fender between 1961 and 1967 and designed their first solid-state amps. He also worked at Rickenbacker between 1967 and the late 1970s, and he designed the Transonic solid-state series. Even though these were not successful lines, they were way ahead of their time and it showed what Rissi could do. He produced both tube and solid-state models in a variety of configurations. The most popular Risson amp appears to be the LTA 120 head that was tube powered. Risson also produced solid-state amps that sounded very good - unlike many solid-state amps of that era. Notable players that currently use or have used Risson Amplifiers include Slash, Joe Walsh, Glen Campbell, Roger McGuinn, Rick Nelson, Al Perkins, Nikki Sixx, Rick Vito, Love Song, The Way, Parable, and Walter Egan. Rissi left the amp industry to pursue a career in computers in the mid-1980s. When Rissi stopped building, he had a supply of parts on hand that he put in storage.
