The Oahu Publishing Company started offering Hawaiian and Spanish style guitars, lap steels, sheet music, and other accessories in the 1930s. As their Hawiian electric guitars became popular in the late 1930s, Oahu began to distribute amplifiers as well. Note that Oahu never produced their own products - they were a house brand of sorts. Most amps were produced by Supro and other suppliers and branded with the Oahu name (similar to what Sears had Harmony and Kay do with their products). Although Oahu amps were designed and sold as Hawiian electric amps, the chassis were often the same of other Supro amps that were for use with regular guitars. Oahu has been reissued by other companies in recent years including Jester and Valco. Any information on Oahu amplifiers can be submitted directly to Blue Book Publications.
