Don Mackrill founded Mack Amps in 2005 because he wanted to offer a boutique amplifier to those who couldn't afford one. In 2005, Mackrill set out to design a simple, high-quality amp with boutique tone that could still be sold at a reasonable price. After a year of design work and prototyping, Mack Amps was incorporated in 2006 when they released their first amp called the Heatseeker HS-18. In 2007, Mack introduced the Heatseeker HS-36 and Skyraider, and in 2009, they introduced the Gem. Mackrill originally constructed every part of his amplifiers himself, but he now outsources the cabinets and chassis. However, Mackrill personally mounts every chassis into its cabinet and tests every amp before shipping it. Mack amps start at $449 for the GEM and $749 for the Heatseeker HS-18. Speaker cabinets are also available. For more information, visit Mack's website or contact Mackrill directly.
