The Hohner company was founded in 1857, and is currently the world's largest manufacturer and distributor of harmonicas. Hohner offers a wide range of solidly constructed musical instruments. The company has stayed contemporary with the current market by licensing designs and parts from Ned Steinberger, Claim Guitars (Germany), and Wilkinson hardware. Hohner started producing guitars in the 1970s, when they also started producing amplifiers. In 1986, HSS was established by Hohner to become a distributor to all of Hohner's products (guitars, drums, accessories, etc.). The last Hohner-branded amplifiers were produced in 1990s with the Panther series. Hohner introduced more brand names over the years, and amplifiers were moved to a different division to let Hohner concentrate on harmonicas and guitars. For more information on acoustic guitars, refer to the Blue Book of Acoustic Guitars. For more information on electric guitars refer to the Blue Book of Electric Guitars.
Amplifiers previously produced overseas periodically from the 1970s through the 1990s. Previously distributed by Hohner/HSS.
