Larry Fishman founded Fishman Transducers, Inc. in 1981 as an acoustic pickup manufacturer. Fishman played acoustic bass in jazz venues throughout the 1970s and early 1980s, and he found it was increasingly difficult to amplify the sound from the guitar. He then started to develop pickups for acoustic guitars. This experimentation led to a full-time job and in the early 1980s he was supplying OEM pickups for Guild and built the Thin Line pickup for Martin. At the summer 2003 NAMM show, Fishman introduced the Loudbox series of acoustic amplifiers. These amplifiers are designed for the particular acoustic player with high-quality features. In 2010, Fishman introduced the SA220 (MSR $1,540) Solo Performance System and Acoustic Guitar Combo. For more information, visit Fishman's website or contact them directly.
