John Fisher, Rick Bos, and John Johnson formed Bolt Guitar Amplification Systems in 2009. Bos and Johnson founded XP Audio in 2007 to develop top-line highly innovative audio products that now include the trademarks Motion Sound, Forge, and Morpheus. Bolt guitar amplifiers utilize tube electronics but they employ a computer chip, similar to the chip found in modern automobiles, that controls the preamp and power amp tubes to maximize their tone.
