After Martin stopped building solid-body electric guitars in the U.S. in 1982, they decided to introduce a Korean line of electric instruments in 1985. These guitars were branded Stinger, and were set up and inspected at Martin's factory in Nazareth, PA. Designs were based on popular American models including Strats, Teles, and Fender basses. In 1988, they introduced a line of amplifiers called the FX Series, which featured about four models. Information courtesy Michael Wright, Guitar Stories, Volume 2.
