Takamine, mainly known for their acoustic and acoustic/electric guitars, introduced a line of electric guitars in circa 1983. Models included the Explorer-style GX-100, the Stratocaster-style GX-200 with a hard-tail bridge and GX-200 with tremolo bridge, the original design GZ-300, and the original design GZ-340. Models were only produced for less than two years when they were discontinued in 1984.
