Designer/luthier Rob Green has been building stringed instruments that feature carbon graphite neck-through-body designs since the early 1980s. According to author Tony Bacon, Status was the first British guitar that featured carbon graphite parts. Many of these high quality solid body instruments have no headstock (save for 1990s Matrix model) and either two humbuckers or three single coil pickups. The Series II model features wood wings on either side of the neck as it passes through the body. The Model 2000 is all graphite in its composition, the Model 4000 is a resin-composite body.
