In the late 1970s, painter/sculptor/guitarist Pat Townsend designed Staccato Drums, asymmetrical shaped drums that flared out from the heads. In 1982, he devised a modular guitar with a fiberglass/polyurethane foam body and magnesium alloy neck section. The necks are interchangeable on the body.
