Luthier Ray Simpson built his first electric guitar in 1941. Production continued throughout the 1960s. A representational model called the Pan-O-Sonic combines both strat-designated overtones with original bridge and wiring designs (the three single coil pickups each have their own on/off switch.) If wired differently from a standard 3 or 5-way selector, this switching could offer some pickup combinations not offered traditionally! Anyone with further information on Simpson guitars is invited to write to the Blue Book of Electric Guitars (source: Tony Bacon, The Ultimate Guitar Book).
Instruments previously produced in New Zealand during the 1960s.
