Riverhead guitars were produced by the Headway Co. Ltd. in Japan and they produced a variety of electric guitars and basses during the 1970s and 1980s. Their first designs called the Unicorn, were based on Steinberger's headless models. Later models featured Ernie Ball-style bodies and headstocks. The last catalog to appear from Riverhead was printed in 1997, and it is unknown if they are still producing guitars.
Instruments previously built in Japan during the 1980s and 1990s. Distributed in the U.S. by American Riverhead in Bolingbrook, IL, and in Japan by Headway Co., Ltd. of Japan.
