Luthier/designer Jens Ritter originally apprenticed as an traditional woodworker. During his apprenticeship, Ritter was also an accomplished electric bassist who played in German Jazz and Fusion bands.
At the age of eighteen, Ritter began building custom basses for local bass players. After a few years the name Jens Ritter was a synonym for high end custom basses in Europe. In 1999, Ritter invented a new Tremelo System for bass guitars (four-string, five-string and six-string). It works with miniature ball bearings. In 2001, he developed a special body sound material called Galpera. This material has an similar sound characteristic to hard maple and it can be covered with chrome or gold. All instruments are completely hand-made and unique. For further information regarding specifications, pricing, and U.S. dealers visit Ritter's website or contact them directly.
