Luthier Stephen McSwain produces elaborate one-of-a-kind electric guitars and basses in a small shop in Los Angeles. McSwain's high degree of relief, metal work, staining/painting and inlays turn his guitars into playable works of art. Many of the metal top guitars feature various designs including old aircraft gauges that light up once he recesses them into the guitar body. McSwain signs, dates and numbers each guitar, making it a highly collectible guitar or piece of art... depending on how you look at it. Prices start around $5,500 for a basic McSwain model.
