The Hill guitar company was founded by luthier John Hill in 1989. Hill Guitars produced many guitars and basses mostly custom shop, one of a kind type pieces. There were over 300 instruments built by 1994.
In 1994 Hill’s extensive background in guitar building and design became an asset when he joined the re-formed Dean Guitars and moved its shop to Plant City, Florida in fall of 1995. As Vice President of Dean he was responsible for production which went on until early 1997, when the company disbanded. Hill moved back to Cleveland and started building guitars again as Hill Custom Guitars in 2000 (see Hill Custom Guitars).
Instruments previously built in Cleveland, OH from 1989 to 1994.
