Luthier Gordon Whitham founded Gordy guitars after he parted ways with the Gordon Smith Guitar company in the early 1980s. Gordon produced original design solid body guitars such as the Red Shift, 1810, Xcaster, and Blueshift bass. Gordon also produced a headless Gordy bass. It is reported that Gordon stopped producing guitars in the early 1990s sometime and went into the electronic effect business. It was also reported that a trainee of Gordon's still gave advice and did set-ups on Gordy guitars in the Manchester area sometime after he stopped producing guitars.
Instruments previously built in England between the mid-1980s and the early 1990s.
