BURNY

Burny is a trademark used by Fernandes on a line of solidbody electric guitars initially produced in Japan. Fernandes began producing Fender and Gibson copies during the late 1970s using the Fernandes brand on Fender copies and Burny on Gibson copies. These copied instruments were called the Revival Series and Fernandes produced them through the mid-1980s until Fender and Gibson threatened to sue for trademark infringement. At this point, Fernandes changed the headstock designs enough to appease Fender and Gibson and they continue to produce copies today. In the early 2000s, Fernandes tried producing Burny guitars in South Korea, but that didn't last long. They also began producing budget model copies in China that bear the Burny name. The Burny Les Paul copy was called Super Grade, which is the most collectible Burny model. Japanese-built Burny guitars are fairly collectible in the vintage market today.
