BLUE STAR MUSIC

Luthier Joe Madison began operating Blue Star Music in 1988. He thought he had "seen it all" until artist Willie Kirschbaum brought in a hand-sculpted guitar body that featured a beautifully carved face with long flowing hair. Originally the bodies were displayed at art shows and galleries, and sparked a lot of interest. Jack Roy, an electronics specialist and vintage Fender aficionado, was also impressed. The three combined their talents to create these uniquely beautiful guitars, with hand carved headstocks that echo the body design.
Each guitar has a unique figure carved into the wood, be it a dragon, a face, a snake, or almost any design. Custom guitars can be standard shape or radical designs with many wood choices and unlimited electronic configurations. Prices range from $1,000 to $4,500, depending on the intricacy of the sculpting and design. All are outfitted with top quality hardware.
