In 1998, AW Shadows introduced a new curved guitar called the CRS Curve. This guitar incorporated a traditional single cutaway body design with an ergonomic vertical curve in the lower bout, beginning after the bridge/stop tailpiece that let players keep their arms in a natural position close to the body, eliminating "playing-related maladies such as tendinitis, carpal tunnel syndrome, muscle strain, and back pain." Unfortunately, a patent was never granted and only two prototypes were constructed. One was sold in 1998, and the second one is still owned by the designer, which is carved as a tribute to Stevie Ray Vaughn. AW Shadows now specializes in custom wine barrels.
Instruments previously built in Princeton, MN during the late 1990s. AW Shadows is currently located in Boonville, CA.
