The Astro guitar company was founded by luthier August Strohmer. He produced guitars under the name Astro ('A' from August and 'Stro' from Strohmer to make Astro!), during the 1960s and early 1970s. This company never became very large, with only a five-employee workforce even during the 1960s guitar boom. Astro produced mainly entry to medium level solidbodies, semi-acoustics, and archtops. They usually featured Schaller pickups and hardware. Used Astro electric guitars are found in the price range between $100 and $300. Source: Gerold Schulz.
