ACOUSTIC

While the Acoustic company was going strong in the amplifier business with models like the 360, they decided to add a guitar and bass model to the product line. The first Black Widows were produced in Japan, and distributed through the Acoustic company. Toward the end of the run of the guitar, production actually switched to Semie Moseley of Mosrite (model neck dimensions correspond to the Mosrite feel). There has been some indication that Paul Barth's Bartell company may have built some as well.
The most striking feature of the Acoustic Black Widow was the finish. The darkened rosewood fingerboard and deep black maple body, combined with the red pad in the back supposedly resembled the markings of a black widow spider.
