Designer/inventor Jeff Abel spent two years from 1992 to 1994 in research and development refining his aluminum body/wood neck concept. Due to the nature of the dense body material, the sustain and harmonics produced are markedly different compared to traditional wood technologies. The Abel Axe body is CNC machined from a solid slab of aircraft grade aluminum and the finished guitar weighs in at only 8 pounds. The colors offered are then anodized to the body, and become part of the aluminum during the process. Assisted by his brother, Jim Abel, Jeff Abel produced limited custom orders. Abel estimates that over 250 guitars were built.
Instruments previously built in Evanston, WY. Previously distributed by Abel Axe of Evanston, WY. Abel Axe guitars were produced from 1992 to 1996.
