Univox instruments were imported into the U.S. by the Merson Musical Supply Company of Westbury, NY. Merson Musical Supply later evolved into the Unicord company. The Univox trademark was offered on a full range of acoustic, thinline acoustic/electric hollowbody, and solid body electric guitars and basses. The majority of the Univox guitars produced were built by Arai of Japan (See Aria), and are entry level to intermediate quality for players. Source: Michael Wright, Guitar Stories, Volume One.
