Luthier Chris Stambaugh began building high quality string instruments for his friends and himself out of necessity: they needed the quality but couldn´t afford the retail prices. Stambaugh, born and raised in North Berwick, Maine, started building guitars during his tenure at a furniture building company. In 1995, his band won the Maine Musician´s Award for Originality.
Stambaugh is currently attending the Wentworth Institute of Technology and is majoring in Industrial Design. Stambaugh was chosen for the Arioch Scholar program, and is one of three students attending on the program´s full scholarship. His stated goal is to craft the highest quality instruments for a fair market price, using environmentally friendly techniques and form and function designs drawn from his educational background.
Instruments currently built in New York.
