The Klira trademark originated in 1887 by builder Johannes Klier (another text gives "Otto" as his first name). The first company electrics appeared in 1958, and solid body guitars followed in 1960. Throughout the 1960s, Klira produced their own original designs, but as the 1970s started the emphasis was put on versions of Fender and Gibson designs. Instruments are generally good quality functional guitars, and many have multi-laminate necks (akin to a wood butcher block). Source: Tony Bacon, The Ultimate Guitar Book.
Instruments previously produced in Germany between the late 1950s and the 1980s.
