Luthier/repairman Ben Frye has been repairing guitars in the Green Bay area for several years, and built custom guitars for over ten years. Frye estimates that he had built a total of 700 guitars.
Frye guitars were constructed at The String Instrument Workshop, a shop Ben shared with his father. Lawrence Frye, a repairman and luthier for over twenty-five years, was the former teacher at Redwing College's Violin and Guitar Making course between 1974 to 1980. The Workshop, a former bar restored to its turn-of-the-century appearance in Green Bay's downtown area, was the central area to the Fryes' stringed instrument repair.
Instruments previously built in Green Bay, WI from 1987 until the late 1990s.
