Christian Stoll began his lutherie career in the mid-1970s as an apprentice at Hopf guitars, then left to study under Dragan Musulin. Stoll finished his period of apprenticeship with Andreas Wahl, and founded the Stoll Guitar Company in 1983.
Between 1983 and 1985, Stoll produced custom orders for classical and steel string models (and some electric guitars and basses), and began to work on developing an acoustic bass guitar. In 1988, Stoll began adding other luthiers to his workshop, and currently has four on staff.
Stoll also offers the McLoud acoustic pickup system on a number of his acoustic models. This internal system features a piezo pickup, endpin jack, and a battery clip for 9-volt batteries. For more information, contact Stoll directly.
Instruments currently built in Taunusstein Waldems, Germany since 1983. Previously distributed in the U.S. by Salwender International in Trabuco Canyon, CA.
